On how many computers can I legaly install and activate one MS Office 2010 suite?

Since the new Microsoft Office 2010 is on the market, we always get this questions from customers.

On how many computers can I legally  install and activate a license of my Microsoft Office 2010 version?

Well, to find that out, you need to read all the Microsoft Software License Terms and you need to understand them too.

Here a short and understandable version from a license specialist:

How many licenses /installations do Office Product Key Cards allow (this is what you buy, when you have a preinstalled MS Office on your new computer)?

Every Product Key Card will allow one user to activate one Office 2010 suite on one preloaded PC.

How many licenses /installations are allowed with the traditional Office discs version?

The number of installations is different, depending on the Office suite which was purchased. The disc version of Office Home and Student 2010 allows a user to install one copy of the software on up to three PCs in a single household for non-commercial use.

Office Home and Student 2010 cannot be used for any commercial, non-profit or revenue generating activity or by any governmental organization.

The disc version of Office Home and Business 2010 and Office Professional 2010 allows one user to install one copy on one PC and a second copy on his portable device like a laptop.

Need to recover or repair Windows 7 and you don’t have a Windows 7 DVD

Many of you out there bought a new Computer or Laptop with the Windows 7 operating system pre installed.

And usually you do not get any DVD for Windows 7 with it as it is pre-installed on your new machine.

What to do, if you have some , not unusual system problems, and you didn’t made a recovery CD / DVD or your manufacturer didn’t give you a recovery CD / DVD when you bought the machine.

The CD/DVD is the only way to recover a broken installation.

The Windows 7 DVD has a complete “recovery center” that provides you with the option of recovering your system via automated recovery (searches for problems and attempts to fix them automatically), rolling-back to a system restore point, recovering a full PC backup, or accessing a command-line recovery console for advanced recovery purposes.

Thankfully, Microsoft seems to have realized this problem, and have thankfully made a recovery disc for this purpose. It contains the contents of the Windows 7 DVD’s “recovery center,” as we’ve come to refer to it.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows 7, and just serves as a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC.

Technically, one could re-create this installation media with freely-downloadable media from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK kit, a multi-gigabyte download); but it’s damn-decent of Microsoft to make this available to Windows’ users who might not be capable of creating such a thing on their own. You can make your own copy from Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, but now you have an easier alternative.

The guys from neosmart.net are holding a copy of the Windows 7 recovery disc for download ( 32bit / 64bit )

We hope this gives you the help you were searching for.

If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Phuket Hosting or Lemonsurf.

How to start the Windows 7 Explorer in Computer View

If you start the Windows Explorer in Windows 7 over the icon in the task-bar / pin-bar , it will start by default in the library view.

If you want to see the usual computer view, you need to do a little modification in the properties of this shortcut.

Make a right mouse click on the Explorer icon, another right mouse click on “Windows Explorer” a left mouse click on “Properties” and the properties settings appear.

Now you just need to modify the “Target”, add to the %windir%\explorer.exe the additional string ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} or just copy this string over the old one %windir%\explorer.exe ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} and then click OK.

Windows 7 GodMode or a simple trick to get a useful Windows 7 folder

By creating a new folder in Windows 7 (On the desktop, within a folder or where ever you prefer it) and renaming it with a special text string at the end, you are able to have a single folder to do everything in your Windows 7 installation.

The trick will also work in Windows Vista, but be warned, that although it works fine in 32-bit versions of Vista, it will cause 64-bit versions of that operating system to crash.

To get to the “GodMode” you need only create a new folder and then rename the folder to the following:

You can use whatever name you want instead of “GodMode” you also could use “Widgets” or “Secret Tools” etc.

Once that is done, the folder’s icon will change to resemble a control panel and will contain dozens of control options. It is a handy way to get to all kinds of controls.

It is even possible to create separate topic folders:

Always download full items in IMAP mode / MS Outlook 2003 – 2010

You are using your account as an IMAP account and noticed that it will only download the message when you actually click on the message.

This can be very annoying when you are not connected to the Internet at that time.

How can I configure it so that it will directly download the message in full without clicking on it first?

Up until Outlook 2007, by default an IMAP account will indeed be set to “Download headers only”.

With Outlook 2010, this default has changed to “Download complete item including attachments”.

You can change these default settings in your Send/Receive settings.

Send/Receive settings

To edit your Send/Receive settings, press CTRL+ALT+S and press the Edit… button.
Another way of reaching this dialog is through:

  • Outlook 2007 and previous

    Tools-> Options…-> tab Mail Setup-> button Send/Receive…-> Edit…

  • Outlook 2010

    File-> section Options-> section Advanced-> button Send/Receive…-> Edit…

If you have multiple accounts configured, select your IMAP account in the left column.

Configure download behavior

How to configure the download behavior depends on your version of Outlook and your desired settings.

  • Outlook 2003 and previous

In the Folder Options section, select a folder and change the option from from “Download headers only” to “Download complete item including attachments”.

You’ll have to do this for each individual folder, there is no way to change this for all folders at once.

  • Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010

Under “Receive mail items” you can change the download method for all folders at once.
If you want to control it on a per-folder basis, then you’ll have to select the option “Use the custom behavior defined below”.

If you need any help in do a proper set up of your MS Outlook or other Microsoft products, please contact us and we will assist you.

Outlook Stuck on continuous loop in Send and Receive

Outlook stuck in a continuous loop in Send/Receive at around 50% to 60%.

It seemed to be downloading / sending mails byte by byte but could not complete the task.

Also, the application itself was constantly hanging and bringing the computer to a standstill.

There are lots of repair instructions to find in the internet like: removing the extend.dat file, recreating the mail profle, etc.

The only solution that usually really works in the end is a repair install of Microsoft Office.

Follow this steps:

1. Click on Start and go to the Control Panel.
2. Add/Remove Programs.
3. Look for Microsoft Office 200x.
4. Click on Change and follows the prompts to run a repair install of the application.

The problem still exists after this?

Please do not hesitate to contact us and we try to help you ASAP
